- Before attaching gages to high pressure
tanks, crack the valve a bit to blow out any
contaminants. It's pretty easy for foreign
matter to get settled in the threaded port
during storage. This will insure that upon
hooking up the gages, they won't ingest
something that doesn't agree with them.
-
- If your having trouble with your files
clogging up while filing aluminum, fill them up
with ordinary blackboard chalk. Doing this and
a good file card works great. Does everybody
have a file card? Get one. Also for filing
aluminum, you can purchase a type "A" aluminum
file mfg. By Nicholson. It doesn't clog. They
last forever.
-
- It's a good idea to hang your files and not
have them banging into each other in a drawer.
They tend to smooth each other out every time
the drawer is opened and closed. A good file
will last forever if you take care of it.
-
Here is a simple bracket to arrange your
files and at the same time keep them from
banging into each other. I have one on both
sides of my machinist box. One side for flat
files and one side for round or square ones.
This one is built out of scrap stainless, but
alum. or mild steel will work just fine. I
nibbled out the slots for the flat files and
used a unibit for the round holes.
- Files only cut on the forward stroke. Don't
wear yourself out using pressure on the back
stroke.
-
- Don't store files in your filing cabinet.
