The parts for the helve are common and easily available. None of the parts are "sacred"; scrounge and substitute as necessary to build yours. The metal required is as follows:

Quantity Description
1 10" wide steel chanel, approximately #### long
1 2" x 3" steel tube, about 36" total
1 2" x 2" x 0.25" wall thickness square tube, about 36" long
1 1.25 inside diamater tube or pipe, at least .25" wall thickness, .5" prefered, about 12" total length. You could use 2.25 OD DOM tubing with a 0.5" wall thickness for example.
1 1" diamater cold rolled steel rod, 10" long
1 .5" diamater cold rolled steel rod, about 12"
1 .75 diamater cold rolled steel rod, about 12"
1 6" x 6" x .25" thick steel plate
1 Trailer hitch tubing with a 2" x 2" inside measurement, about 4" long
1 .75" wide x .25" thick steel flat bar, about 12" long
2 .5" pillow blocks (mounted bearings)
2 1" pillow blocks (mounted bearings)
1 1/2" pneumatic drill
2 .5" heim joints, 7/16 male threaded shank
misc nuts, bolts, spring and misc parts as indicated in the plans and pictures
