How to re-build 1937 Ford coupe fender
.

These are photos of the lower front part of a 37 Ford coupe fender. The customer wanted me to fix the paint blisters, and repaint the fender. Well after I got the thick layer of filler off the inside and outside he agreed that it needed a little metal work. Photo #2 shows the inner panel removed from the fender. Photo # 3 I shaped the inner panel out of two pieces of 20 ga. 1020 steel. The beads were put in with the pullmax, the rest was formed with hammer and dolly. Photo # 5 The rolled lip of the wheel opening and the bottom were hammer formed over plywood that was shaped with a router. I have butt mig welded most of my repair panels over the years and have had good success. With much practice maybe I'll rise to the levels of the likes of Wray.
